Simpli5 Braces/Aligners

For very simple corrections

Simpli5 Logo

Simpli5 removable braces use a series of clear plastic aligners to move the teeth into more cosmetically appealing positions. This system is designed to concentrate on very minor cases of crowding and is cosmetically oriented, focusing on the front six teeth only.

The aligners can only produce a maximum movement of 2.5 mm, and this does rely on the teeth being reasonably well aligned to start with.

The Benefits:

  • Speed – Most people finish treatment within five months
  • Cost – Shorter treatment and just five aligners makes the treatment more affordable
  • Simple - Only five aligners required

What it can treat:

It's only suitable for treating minor orthodontic problems

  • The front six teeth on lower or upper arch
  • Minor crowding of the front teeth
  • Minor spacing of the front teeth
  • Minor relapse from previous orthodontic treatment

What it cannot treat:

  • Back teeth
  • Bite correction
  • Major overcrowding
  • Not suitable for moderate to complex cases
  • Complicated tooth movement

For a clear brace that is capable of treating more difficult cases, read about Invisalign.

What Is the Step-By-Step Process for Having Simpli5 Braces?

The step-by-step process for having these braces is as follows:

  1. During a consultation at Harley Street Orthodontic Centre we will determine if this system is suitable for you. We will take impressions of your teeth to cast up in dental plaster.
  2. These models will be sent away, along with your prescription so the aligners can be made by the laboratory.
  3. They will be returned in approximately four weeks, at which point your dentist will fit them, and will give you full instructions on their use.
  4. Each set of aligners will need to be worn for approximately three to four weeks before being changed for a fresh set.
  5. Once treatment is complete you will need to wear a retainer.

Will Treatment Hurt?

Your teeth will move during treatment, and this can create some discomfort or tenderness. There is likely to be less discomfort with this system, as the tooth movement is limited. If you do feel any discomfort then it should be easily controllable with over-the-counter painkillers. If the discomfort persists then you should ask your dentist for advice.

How Long Does Treatment Take?
